5 Quick Organic Snacks

Going hungry

Don't tell me you get hungry between meals? Sure, you're on a diet and not eating as much as before. But going on a diet shouldn't mean going hungry. Instead you should be eating food that fills you up yet is low in calories.
Can't be done? Here are 5 quick organic snacks which will eliminate hunger cravings between meals.

Before anything else

Firstly, before anything else happens, you need to be drinking enough water. No, this has nothing to do with your hunger, but it does help your body to function better and should be seen as critical in helping to digest the food you eat. You should be drinking 2 litres a day, which roughly equates to 8 glasses.

1. Fruit before Meals
You know you should be eating 5 items of fruit a day. Which is correct, but did you know when you should eat them?
It is better to eat one or two pieces of fruit around 30 to 60 minutes before your meal. Apples are easy, though really any fruit is good for you.
This helps in two ways - it stems your hunger and it also reduces your appetite at meal time so you feel better eating less.

2. Mixed Seeds
Carry a small pot full of mixed seeds around with you & pour your self a handful whenever you feel like something to munch on. Together, sunflower, sesame and pumpkin seeds make a very tasty trio and they soon take the edge off your hunger.
Maybe you could mix in a few pine nuts which are lower in fat than most other nuts and a delicious protein replacement food.

3. Smoothies
One of the easiest ways for getting all of the nutrition and anti-oxidants your body needs for maximum health is to drink them! Just blend them up and chug them down.
Try mixing mango and kale or perhaps strawberry and banana or even vanilla and kiwi.
Easy and it's like a meal in itself.

4. Rye bread and cottage cheese
Rye bread will fill you up and leave you full for ages. It's a wonderful food providing you with high energy which is released slowly so is a good lunchtime snack. It is a bit dry on its own but goes well with cottage cheese.

5. Olives
Green or black olives are deliciously moorish as a snack, but don't overdo how much you eat.
They are easily digested and are a wonderful detoxing agent. Strangely for an oil, olive oil can help you lose weight because it contains essential fatty acids which enable unwanted, stored fat to be removed from the system. Eating too much will have the opposite effect though.
